The Story
An exclusive project with our partners in New Zealand creating classic Pinot Noir under a private label for the UK market.
Vineyard & Winemaking
Fruit sourced predominantly from Central Otago for the 2021 vintage - labelled as 'South Island' as some small parcels of fruit were sourced from other top quality vineyards in North Canterbury.
Fermented with the natural yeast from the vineyard and winery in open top fermenters for 15-28 days. Aged in barrel with 25% new oak for 12 months, then aged in wood and concrete for a further 8 months prior to bottling
Tasting Notes:
Aromatic and expressive, this wine opens with a perfumed bouquet of wild blackberries, crushed violets, red liquorice, and a lift of raspberry and redcurrant. Subtle notes of cedar and cinnamon add intrigue and warmth.
On the palate, it’s supple and seductive, unfolding layers of ripe red plum and juicy blackcurrant, underpinned by smoky savouriness, hints of clove, and a touch of dark chocolate. The tannins are fine and well-integrated, carried by a vibrant acidity that gives freshness and length to the finish.
