Pouilly-Fumé 'Petit F...', Michel Redde et Fils 2023 - Organic

Loire Valley, France

Grape Variety: Sauvignon Blanc

Alcohol: 13% ABV

The Story

La Moynerie covers 40 hectares occupying a prime position in the heart of the Pouilly-sur-Loire region. Most of the domaine's vineyards are on the magnificent south facing slopes over-looking the Loire River. Soils are clay-limestone, which give an early harvest, producing wines that are rich, harmonious and long-lived, and clay-siliceous soils which gives wines with distinctive flinty flavours. Priority is given to quality, so the vines are pruned very short to obtain complex musts and concentrated aromas.

The Redde family strongly believe in working with respect for their vineyards and the surrounding environment and their wines are certified organic by Ecocert from the 2023 vintage. Their vineyards are managed without the use of herbicides, insecticides or any other synthetic additives.

The winery at La Moynerie is well equipped and modern. The modern presses allow a light pressing giving a gentle flow of the juice, similar to the quality obtained in the past with wooden hand-operated presses.

Vineyard & Winemaking

Petit F... 2023 is a free-spirited, daring creation from Michel Redde & Fils — a 100% Sauvignon Blanc Pouilly-Fumé made from young vines rooted in the domaine’s limestone soils. It captures the vibrant energy of the vintage, offering a fresh, lively expression of the terroir.

The Redde family, long established as one of Pouilly-sur-Loire’s emblematic names, created Petit F... as a more playful, spontaneous take on Sauvignon Blanc — approachable, yet crafted with the same precision and care as their grander cuvées. Its name, both evocative and mischievous, hints at the wine’s free character while staying true to the estate’s elegant, mineral signature.

Grown with respect for the environment, the vines are tended to encourage biodiversity and healthy soils. Grapes are hand-selected from parcels that best showcase Sauvignon Blanc’s crisp aromatics and purity. In the cellar, natural fermentations and ageing on fine lees are favoured, allowing the fruit and terroir to speak clearly. The result is a modern, inviting interpretation of Pouilly-Fumé that appeals as much to seasoned enthusiasts as to those discovering the appellation for the first time.

Tasting Notes:

A lively and expressive Sauvignon Blanc with a nose of zesty citrus, white flowers, and a subtle chalky minerality. The palate is taut and vibrant, driven by the freshness of the vintage, with juicy grapefruit and lemon zest layered over a fine, saline edge. The finish is mouthwatering and precise, leaving a clean, mineral impression. Fresh, spontaneous, and already beautifully balanced — a modern, approachable take on Pouilly-Fumé.
